Humectant Stacking: Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, and Panthenol
Many modern gels stack Glycerin (glycerin), Hyaluronic Acid (hyaluronic acid / sodium hyaluronate family), and Panthenol (panthenol) in one chassis. CIR has issued separate Final Reports concluding each group safe in the present practices of use and concentration described in those assessments [1] [2] [3].
Stacking is optional engineering, not a certified superpower. Glycerin is the high-load humectant workhorse; hyaluronates add water-binding polymers with different molecular-weight behaviours; panthenol adds humectant and conditioning function [1] [2] [3]. CIR did not publish a combined "triple humectant synergy" monograph; safety-as-used for each INCI does not prove additive clinical superiority.
Formulator takeaway: stack for texture and hydration design, keep claims inside moisturisation language, and avoid implying a CIR-endorsed repair cocktail [1] [2] [3].
