Madecassoside is a pentacyclic triterpene glycoside from centella asiatica. It is one of the standardised Centella markers (with asiaticoside, madecassic and asiatic acids) used in repair balms such as panthenol-centric formulas[1][2].

What it does

Preclinical and clinical Centella work supports wound-healing, collagen-support, and anti-inflammatory directions; madecassoside is frequently the labelled active fraction in leave-ons[1].

The evidence

Human data are stronger for Centella extracts/fractions in wound and scar contexts than for every cosmetic redness claim; grade sits at moderate overall[1][2].

How to use it

Look for it beside panthenol in repair balms. Patch-test if you react to botanical actives generally.
