Ethyl Trimethylbenzoyl Phenylphosphinate
Light-stabilizer phosphinate in the same CIR Draft Tentative Report as TPO; Panel conclusion not yet issued.
Ethyl Trimethylbenzoyl Phenylphosphinate is reported as a light stabilizer and was added to the CIR phosphine-oxide photoinitiator report alongside Bis-Trimethylbenzoyl Phenylphosphine Oxide and trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide.[1]
What it does
Like the related oxides, it is a light-triggered chemistry aid rather than a barrier or brightening active.[1]
The evidence
The September 2026 Draft Tentative Report still lists insufficiencies for sensitisation, phototoxicity (non-nail), non-nail use levels, impurities, and manufacturing data.[1] Industry submissions include modelled exposure work; staff recalculated some margins using Council survey maxima (including a 6.2% figure discussed for this phosphinate in the memo package).[1]
How to use it
Relevant mainly if you read nail or specialty INCI lists. Wait for the Panel’s tentative conclusion before treating safety as settled.
